After-Hours Guide

Unlike a lot of other American metropolises, Austin is not a 24-hour city. Almost all of the restaurants close at 10:00 PM sharp, with most bars following suit at 2:00 AM. However, certain clubs are open after-hours, when the majority of bars in the city have already closed their doors. They are not allowed to charge for alcohol sales, generally take a higher cover, and typically close between 3:00-6:00 AM. As these locales run around "events," they are not always open on a schedule, and some are members-only. Some operate through word-of-mouth and do not even have websites or social media.

This project aims to compile all of the currently operating after-hours clubs in downtown Austin. As the list is always changing, we'll keep it up to date, with a note showing the last time that the page was edited. The map above the list shows where each club is located, by number, although number 9 has been cut off by number 11.

1. The Cut
(401 Sabine St)

Open to members-only (although membership is free online), The Cut has long been the premier after-hours spot in Austin.

2. Truth
(715 Red River St)

A hip-hop themed after-hours club replacing the last location of The Cut, Truth fills a big niche in the nightlife scene.

3. Teller's/Twins Room
(607 Trinity St)

This building holds two after-hours clubs in one: Teller’s and Twins Room. Twins Room is a dance-focused spot run by two mysterious Brazilians with longtime roots in the nightlife business. Teller’s represents the Dirty 6th vibe, going late into the morning.

4. Kingdom
(505 E 7th St)

A good spot for ravers, Kingdom has long been a mainstay of the late-night Austin scene. It is not always open after-hours.

5. Space Siete
(617 E 7th St)

Located right behind Mala Vida, Space Siete is a space-themed after-hours club with a Latin vibe. Exemplified by its slogan “twerking in another dimension” (perreo en otra dimensión).

6. Warehouse District
(4th and Colorado)

There is usually at least one after-hours club operating in the Warehouse District, an LGBTQ+-friendly strip of bars in the middle of downtown. The usual suspects are Highland and Eternal, which are both located at the same intersection.
